18 thg 6, 2024

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, by the end of May 2024, the export turnover of agricultural products to Russia reached 331.3 million USD, an increase of 49.7% compared to the same period last year.

Among these, coffee is the largest exported item to the Russian market, with a turnover of 161.6 million USD, up 39% from the same period in 2023. This is followed by seafood with 76.4 million USD, an increase of 87.7%; cashews with 28 million USD, up 81.8%; and fruits and vegetables with 26.8 million USD, up 25.2%.

Additionally, rubber exports to this market increased by 23.8%, wood and wood products by 47.6%, rice exports doubled, and pepper exports surged by 96.9%. Compared to the same period last year, only tea exports recorded a negative growth of 12%.

Russia is not a major export market for many Vietnamese agricultural products. However, in the first five months of this year, exports of agricultural products to Russia have seen a significant increase.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, transportation of goods from Vietnam to Russia has become more convenient. Russian transport groups have opened direct routes from Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong - Vladivostok (Russia); some other shipping lines have also started new routes, making transportation faster and reducing delivery times.

Additionally, the railway transport system supporting deliveries to Russia has diversified cargo transportation options.

Tariff benefits following the signing of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement in 2015 have also enhanced the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products in this market, including Russia.
