Corn

July export data from the Census recorded 5.26 million tons of corn, down 4.3% from June but double the amount compared to the same period last year. Total sales for the marketing year reached 2.089 billion bushels. Distillers' grain shipments hit a 6-year high in July and were the largest since January 2022, at 1.094 million tons. Total ethanol export volume reached 135.99 billion gallons, down 7% from June but a record for July in previous years.

StoneX increased its U.S. corn production estimate by 0.6 bushels per acre to 182.9 bushels per acre on Wednesday. Production dropped by 80 million bushels to 15.127 billion bushels, possibly due to lower acreage.

Corn prices have seen a 5-session winning streak. The settlement price for the December Corn contract on September 4 was 412.75 cents per bushel, up 0.86% from the previous session.

Soybeans

Data shows that soybean exports in July reached 1.495 million tons, up 11.62% from June and up 17.04% compared to July totals. In the first 11 months of the marketing year, 1.632 billion bushels were shipped, with an additional 68 million bushels needed in August to meet the USDA's forecast of 1.7 billion bushels. Soybean meal shipments were down over 6% year-on-year, totaling just over 1 million tons.

U.S. soybean yields were adjusted up by 0.4 bushels per acre, according to StoneX estimates. However, due to increased acreage, production was raised by 92 million bushels to 4.575 billion bushels.

Brazil's AgRural expects the country's soybean planting area to increase by 0.9% this year to 114.66 million acres. Production is projected to reach 168 million tons.

The November Soybean contract price also had a 5-session winning streak. The settlement price on September 4 was 1,021.5 cents per bushel, up nearly 1% from the previous weekend session.

Wheat

Wheat exports in July totaled 1.959 million tons. This was the highest in 4 months and up 33.63% from June, as well as 12.6% higher than in July last year.

Estimates suggest Taiwan purchased 101,000 tons of U.S. wheat on Wednesday. Japan is bidding on 87,660 tons of wheat from the U.S. and Canada on Thursday, with 63,730 tons specifically from the U.S.

The December Wheat contract price continued to rise sharply. The settlement price on September 4 was 580.75 cents per bushel, up nearly 2.5% from the previous session.
