US Stock Market Situation on August 12
The US stock market maintained its upward momentum in Monday's trading session as investors awaited inflation data expected to be released later this week. The S&P 500 index saw a slight increase of 0.23 points, closing at 5,344.39 points. The Nasdaq index rose by 0.21%, reaching 16,780.61 points, while the Dow Jones index increased by 0.36%, closing at 39,357.01 points.
US Treasury Bonds Situation on August 12
The yield on the 10-year US Treasury bond reversed course, declining to 3.9%.
Dollar Index Situation
The Dollar Index edged down by 0.01%, settling at 103.13 points as the currency market stabilized ahead of the inflation data release.
Gold Situation
Global gold prices surged today, with spot gold rising by 40 USD to 2,473.9 USD per ounce. Gold futures last traded up 35.7 USD from early morning, reaching 2,509.1 USD per ounce.
Commodity Market Situation
At the start of the week, oil prices saw a significant increase of over 3% due to concerns that conflicts in the Middle East might disrupt oil supply. Brent crude oil rose by 2.64 USD, or 3.3%, to 82.3 USD per barrel, while WTI crude oil increased by 3.22 USD, or 4.2%, to 80.06 USD per barrel.
