The dollar index on Wednesday rose by 0.48% and reached a 2-1/2 week high. The dollar gained support from its safe-haven status due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The dollar’s rise accelerated further after bond yields surged, driven by the U.S. September ADP employment report showing an increase of 143,000, exceeding expectations of 125,000, which is a hawkish factor for Fed policy. Additionally, the yen tumbled on Wednesday, benefiting the dollar, after Prime Minister Ishiba ruled out a BOJ interest rate hike in the near future.
